It’s snowing!

_____Winter can be a promising time for students because it brings one special thing: snow. Snow can take us back to when we were little kids and rushed to the window in the morning to see if there was enough to cause a school cancellation. On Tuesday of this week, students were fortunate to receive a snow day, and midterms were postponed from Wednesday and Thursday (19th and 20th) to Thursday and Friday (20th and 21st), which made some students very happy.
_____The only problem that snow days might pose is finding something to do with them. However, some students appreciate having nothing to do and spend the day sleeping in or watching movies. Those who have yet to begin studying were able to crack open the books and prepare for the strenuous midterms ahead, while others had the opportunity to finish a paper or two. _____Some students have recently been working on an essay for the American Legion 76th Annual Essay Contest. The topic involves the pros and cons of off-shore drilling, and the prizes include scholarships of up to $3,500.
_____Of course, one option on a snow day is to go out and play in it. Many students enjoy going to Roundtop and tubing, skiing, or snowboarding. In fact, a commercial had recently been playing during the school’s morning broadcast about preparing for the ski season, and it featured a student exercising to the theme song from the movie, Rocky.
_____So, whether students enjoy being productive with their free time or just relaxing, snow days are usually something that students look forward to when they need a day of mental health. |
