Purple Haze The End is Near
By Amy Kimmel

Well, this is
it. The school year is over for us seniors. I can't believe these four
years at Northern High School flew by this quickly. This year, Northern
Nation came together as one and accomplished so many things. From our
very first day of school till the last, we had an impeccable year. All
of the sports teams went above and beyond winning divisions, districts
and making it to states. The athletics weren't the only things that succeeded this year, the whole music department
and all of the clubs did a fantastic job and raised a lot of money.
Northern welcomed new clubs, Pokemon, Cystic Fibrosis, and the NGSA and
changed some of their rules like only seven people to a lunch table.
Regardless to say I couldn't imagine my last year as a polar bear any
better. Due to one of the whitest winters we've had in a while, the
graduation ceremony will be held on June 6, at Christian Life Assembly
(CLA). Taking place that morning, the Class of 2014 will be gathering
together in the high school for one last rehearsal before the big event
that night. During that rehearsal, we will be getting our final picture
as a class in our caps and gowns! Last Saturday, we had our first
rehearsal and it was safe to say it went better than expected.
It has
been a pleasure writing for the Purple Haze column every week and thank
you for all of the comments and compliments. As for my plans after I
graduate? In the fall, I will be attending Neumann University majoring
in Communication and Media Arts. This won't be the last time you see my name in print hopefully, as I plan on
having a career in journalism and someday writing my own novel.
Although I will be moving on in the next chapter of my life as a
Knight, I will forever be a polar bear.
