Purple Haze For a brief time
By Amy Kimmel
Feburary 4, 2016
Another
week done. With snow melting, warmer temperatures and rainy weather,
spring seems like it’s only a few weeks away. The groundhog seemed to
confirm our suspicions on Tuesday when he did not see his shadow,
predicting an early spring.
The third marking period
is underway, marking the halfway point of the 2015-2016 school year. My
art teacher, Mrs. Brink, celebrates by painting a life size portrait of
Bon Jovi to hang in the hallway accompanied by the popular lyrics “Woah
we’re halfway there!”
The spring Wolfgang candy
fundraiser, supporting Prom, has just come to a close. If you missed it
and still want to get a hold of some Easter candy, the elementary
school’s Wolfgang candy fundraiser is just getting started.
Fundraising for Four
Diamonds is kicking into full gear with an exciting announcement from
the NHS principals. They are willing to offer their parking spots to
the top four fundraisers from the high school. This is seen as a large
incentive, especially to juniors and seniors at the high school.
Winter sports teams have
been hosting their senior nights as the season comes to a close. The
special extended games or meets honor the seniors on the team usually
including a walk with their parents and the presentation of a flower or
gift. The boys’ basketball team hosted their senior night Tuesday
evening during a game against Greencastle. Although the boys played
hard, they unfortunately lost. The swim team also held their senior
night this past week, wishing their seniors the best in the years to
come.
Enjoy the week ahead and the warmer weather, even if it is only here for a brief time!
