Purple Haze The Orange Haze
By Amy Kimmel
March 17, 2016 In
case you noticed or were wondering why there was no Purple Haze last
week, it's because I was in sunny Florida! (Chris King the Intern was temporarily confused.) Some highlights from the
trip were going to the beach (of course!), the Naples Zoo, the
Botanical Gardens and an airboat ride through the Everglades. Very
educational! Instead of squirrels on the side of the road like here in
Pennsylvania, there were alligators! But enough about Florida; this
isn't called the Orange Haze.
This past
weekend was Northern High School's Mini Thon. The 12-hour event was a
huge success as the students surpassed their fundraising goal by $4,600
with a total of $39,611.27 raised. "Words cannot describe how thankful
[we] are for our donors, volunteers, and participants," the Four
Diamond's committee said. Participants enjoyed an entertaining night of
dodgeball, Zumba and bounce house races, all while having fun
supporting an amazing cause.
There are a
few new clubs at NHS this month. The first is the Debate Club. Students
who enjoy debating and politics are encouraged to attend. Another new
club is the sign language club. Students of all skill levels are
invited to join.
There's always something new and exciting happening at NHS!
