Decorating Frenzy

This week at the high school teachers and students alike are working hard on decorating their doors/hallways for Christmas! One teacher in particular takes the door decorating very seriously. Mrs. Brink, one of the art teachers at the high school began creating her decorations before Thanksgiving break. The theme of her door is based on the movie ELF. Décor ranges from a life size painting of Buddy himself to a huge bowl of spagettii with maple syrup on top, Buddy's favorite. Mrs. Brink says she can't be limited to just the door. Other teachers have trees on their doors with real lights! Rudolph is seen as well as snowmen and other holiday visages. I'm glad I'm not the judge!
This Friday night you can also come out to support the NHS boys' basketball team as they face their first home game. Friday night has been titled "Pack the House Night," urging people to fill the stands while in friendly competition with other schools from the district. The goal is to have the most people there from your school (Northern Elementary, NHS, NMS, etc)! Marketing students are selling purple and white tye- dyed shirts to be worn Friday night in support of the team. Hope to see you in the stands!
Other clubs and teachers are getting into the Christmas spirit by encouraging giving to those in need. Four Diamonds students have set a tree in the school hallway with ornaments bearing the name of a toy or activity a child might like to receive for Christmas. Students are encouraged to take an ornament and drop off the items, which will be given to New Hope Ministries. Mrs. Ganoe, an NHS teacher, is also collecting donations from students for New Hope. She will use the donations received to shop for toys that will then be donated to families in need.
Although the holiday season rushes past so quickly, it is important to slow down and remember the blessings in our lives whether they be small or large. Merry Christmas! |
