Traffic is at a standstill on both sides of Rt. 15 Friday evening as emergency crews clear the scene of an accident involving a wrong- way driver in a red sedan traveling south in the northbound lane between the Rt. 114 and Lisburn Road intersections.

Wrong-way driver creates havoc, injuring several people

An erratic driver traveling south in the northbound lanes of Rt. 15 for over four miles struck several vehicles sending multiple people to the hospital for serious injuries, including a boy from Dillsburg, Friday evening Jan. 17 between the Rt. 114 and Lisburn Road intersections, Cumberland County. Upper Allen Township Police said they were notified of a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. Rt. 15 North near mile marker 41.5 at approximately 4:40 p.m. A short time later, they were dispatched for a serious crash on the same stretch of highway near mile marker 37.0. Upon arriving, police determined that at least four vehicles were struck by the wrong-way driver. Four of the involved vehicles suffered disabling damage. Parts of both U.S. Route 15 North and South were shut down for hours to assist in the investigation and ensure victim safety. Police are not releasing any more information at this time on the drivers and vehicles.
