Monaghan Township firemen survey the damage on a truck that caught fire on the 200-block of Mountain Road, Monaghan Township, Monday afternoon, Feb. 17. Lisburn Fire Company, fire police and Carroll Township police assisted. No injuries were report- ed. The driver said he saw smoke and flames after starting his truck in his driveway. He immediately went for a fire extinguisher but the truck was already engulfed.
Upper Allen Police Department has released more details but no names of the people involved in an accident on Jan. 17 where an erratic driver, traveling south in the northbound lanes of Rt. 15 for several miles sent multiple people to the hospital before coming to a stop by crashing between the Rt. 114 and Lisburn Road intersections, Cumberland County. Police said the incident started at the Capital City Car Wash, Lower Allen Township, where the wrong-way driver got into an altercation and struck a 2011 Nissan Rogue with three occupants, a 37-year-old driver and two children ages four and two, before fleeing the scene. The driver sped away from the car wash on Hartzdale Drive near the Capital City Mall and entered Rt. 15 going south-bound in the northbound lanes, sideswiping a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 17-year-old. After several near misses and collisions with other vehicles, the final crash was in Upper Allen Township. In total, the incident involved seven vehicles across both municipalities, police said. Police confirmed that there were no fatalities. Twelve individuals were involved, with six people from ages six to 73 sustaining injuries, including the 29-year-old wrong-way driver. A 26-year-old EMS worker sustained a bloody nose and facial bruising after he was punched in the face by the errant driver. In Upper Allen Township, the driver struck a tractor-trailer combination driven by a 54-year-old, a 2024 Toyota Tundra operated by a 34-year-old, a 2024 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 25-year-old and a 2023 Toyota RAV4 occupied by a 73-year-old driver and two children ages nine and six.
