Late Monday night, August 11, a tractor trailer caught fire at mile marker 27.1, southbound on Rt. 15 near County Line Road. First responders said that it appeared the brakes set the tires ablaze which spread to the trailer. The truck was able to be disconnected from the trailer. Northern York County Fire Rescue, Upper Allen, Monroe and York Springs fire companies, NYCFR, Wellsville, Monaghan fire police and Northern Regional Police were on the scene. Supervisors unanimously denied the land development plan for Stony Run Village (SRV) at their Aug. 11 meeting. Supervisors Dave Bush, Tim Kelly, Libby Loudenslager, and Brent Sailhamer were present; Kelly Wall joined on Zoom.
Extensive discussion preceded the SRV vote. It started with Evan Lescanec from Integrated Consulting attending in place of Eliott Shibley who he said was “unable to make it.” Lescanec said the SRV project his company oversees is “gathering outside signature agency approvals and signatures.”
Sailhamer noted that the Planning Commission unanimously moved to deny Stony Run Village's plan at their April meeting, and cited the temporary grading easements for where existing sidewalks were designed to meet the new development. Bryan Golden, the developer for Stony Run Village, said he met with the Swivels and Taylors [property owners where easement agreements might be required] “several times.” According to Golden, the easement agreements “they have in hand may not be needed.”
Township engineer Phil Brath said if the development “enters on other properties, they will need easements.”

Whether you live in Wellsville or just traveling through the area, and in the need for gas, a quick bite to eat, or maybe something to drink - stop and visit the Wellsville Community Mart. Ray Raza and his brother Mohammad Irifan own the convenience store at 3425 Rosstown Rd., in Wellsville.
Ray and his brother Mohammad are originally from Pakistan.
“I immigrated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada and my brother went to Massachusetts to live,” Raza said. When they both arrived in the Wellsville area they liked what they saw. In 2007 the brothers purchased the gas station and convenience store. “We decided to take a chance since we really like the area,” Raza said.

Solidified with veteran returners and bright newcomers, the 2025 edition of the Northern H.S. varsity boys golf team has clear league and post season goals. The Polar Bears look to repeat as Mid Penn Colonial Division champions and then take a few more steps into the post season in Mid Penns, District III and states. In a schedule update, Northern was slated to open the season this past Wednesday, August 13 at Greencastle Golf Club for the Colonial match including the host Blue Devils, Big Spring, James Buchanan, Shippensburg, Waynesboro and Gettysburg. Head coach Andrew Sneeringer’s squad has a total of 13 players who will comprise the varsity and JV teams. Seniors Logan White, Kooper Cunningham and Kyle Miller serve as team captains.
