Lost dog in recovery, soon available for adoption

When a volunteer from the Canine Rescue of Central PA spotted a dog with a plastic jar stuck on it’s head in the area of Cabin Hollow and Mt. Zion roads, Warrington Township, the rescue took action. Then all volunteers gathered to assist. “Even though we are grateful for all the help, we didn’t want too many chas- ing the dog around because of frightening the poor thing,” said Janelle George, social media co-chairman for the organization. The search began early Monday morning, Aug. 18. “We lost sight of the dog and did not see her for about 24 hours,” George said of the first day.

Will the baseline census and school population data collected three years ago be sufficient in planning for the future construction or renovation of Northern Middle School? Northern York County School District administrators and members of the school board last week listened to a feasibility study presentation from the Crabtree Rohrbaugh & Associates architectural firm on the future plans for the district's middle school and sports and learning center.

Bowhunters of Wellsville held their 50th year bash with entertainment by Drew Cooke and the Colt Wilbur Band on Friday, Aug. 8. In photo, State Representative Marc Anderson pres- ents Zack Barber and Kyle Moody a proclamation commemorating the event as Bowhunter employees look on.
On Saturday, Aug. 30 the Northstars Black 14U played Phoenixville Firebirds 14U, at the Rally Cap Tournament in Potts town, winning 14 to 3; the next game was against the Spiders 14U, Northstars lost 1 to 3. On Sunday they played the Big Fly U, winning 5 to 2, and cap- tured the championship against the Spiders 14U, winning 7 to 5. After a tough, 14-0 road loss to Mifflin County H.S. last Friday, the Northern H.S. varsity football team will host the Lower Dauphin H.S. Falcons this Friday night at Bostic Field. Northern fell to 0-2 on the year and will face an LD team that lost to Red Land H.S. in week 2 by the score of 14-6. Last year, Northern earned a double OT win over the Huskies at Bostic Field.

While students get settled into new classes and busy schedules, Northern’s clubs are starting. During our first in-school flex period on Wednesday, students checked out the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council and Key Clubs. Participation in group activities help shape good future leaders, creators, and public speakers. Students, be sure to look out for any extracurricular activities that interest you.

Gante and McCarty lead Polar Bears past the Panthers

Improving to 2-0-1 on the year at home last Saturday, August 30, the Northern H.S. varsity boys soccer team blanked Central Dauphin East H.S., 7-0. The twilight game saw Mike Gante and Finnley McCarty score two goals apiece while Tristan Lusk, Jacob Linsenbach and Jaden Brubaker scored one goal each. Gante also had three assists and Tristan Lusk contributed two. Owen Shoemaker also had an assist. In goal, Matt Fullerton and Wyatt Brown had one save apiece. The visiting Panthers’ Leo Fure made eight saves. Northern had 24 shots, five corners and five fouls while CD East had six fouls, one corner and two shots.
